More Pictures of The Well Dressings & Well Blesssings 2009Lower wyche spout

The wonderful giant daisy at the Lower Wyche Spout (see picture) by Debbie and Jess Sly was dedicated to Charles Darwin and also to Richard Dawkins (author of “The God Delusion”) but didn’t enter the competition.  The Lower Wyche Tough was beautifully dressed by Caroline Harris who won a  Bronze Medal for her work.  Both well dressings and their artists were featured in the Malvern Gazette on Friday 8th May 2009.  Sadly both of the Wyche well dressings had been removed when the Rev Steve Martin blessed the waters in the presence of the Wyche school children (see picture) on Tuesday 5th May.  Later that morning, the Rev Steve Martin also blessed the Jubilee Fountain (see picture), which was still resplendent in its Gold Medal winning ‘HMS Beagle’ design by Lois & Brendan Lawler & Angela Sutton, who were present at the ceremony.   Other wells dressed in the parish were the Eye Well by Mari Brown (for which we sadly haven’t any photographs) and the Holywell, which was blessed by Bishop David Walker (see picture) on Sunday 3rd May.

Holy Well dressing 2009

The Holywell was delightfully dressed by Sandra Chapman and her work included a very moving poem as a dedication.  A video of the blessing by Bishop David is available on YouTube, you may find the link from the “Holywell” page of the Wells of Malvern Wells on this website or at the following site   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PWRBs9f5YU
